We will discuss how the Zinniker Farm can thrive into the future.
One of the most pressing needs of the farm is labor ~ currently the farm cannot afford to pay someone a fair wage to work at the farm.
Like many family farms, the Zinniker Farm does not charge a sustainable price for the food they sell. Unfortunately they are competing with Big Ag on price which is a losing proposition.
Petra has been working off the farm on and off for the last 10 years to make ends meet.
Mark does not earn a living wage for running the farm.
Community is missing from the farm. When there are "farm days", who can help coordinate so there is not more added work for the Zinnikers.
Currently the Zinniker's children do not want to take over the farm, so there is no succession plan.
What will happen to the oldest biodynamic farm in the US after Petra & Mark stop farming?
This first community meeting is the first step in creating a new future for the Zinniker Farm.
